Portals managed by a Service Provider company look and feel a little different than the typical Wastebits portal. In this article, we'll describe some of the differences to help you understand how your Service Provider portal works!

The Concept of Inbound and Outbound

Both Companies and Waste Streams can be considered Inbound.

  • Inbound (IB) Waste Streams are filled out by the Portal Company’s customer (either a Service Provider or a Generator) and are submitted to a TBD Facility for Portal Company review and processing.

Both Companies and Waste Streams can be considered Outbound.

  • Outbound (OB) Waste Streams are cloned from an Inbound Waste Stream by a Portal Company user (any of the Facility user types that have 'Waste Stream create' permissions can do this). The TBD facility is removed, and a vendor Destination Facility is added.

Inbound/Outbound Company Set Up

Companies can be designated as Inbound or Outbound via a toggle on the Company details page.

Creating Customer Companies and Sites (Inbound)

This process will be largely the same as other portals, with the exception of the inbound/outbound selection. Select inbound on a Company you'll add customers to, and also add to inbound Waste Streams. If the company is a Generator that will have a Service Provider authorized to it, this is the version of the company that SP should be authorized to.

An outbound version of Customer Companies and Sites can be created. You will not add the customer to these Companies or Sites. This company will be added to outbound Waste Streams as a placeholder in the Generator section.

Creating Vendor Portal Company Sites (Outbound)

As new vendors need to be added, Portal Admin users have the ability to create new Portal Company Sites. Go to My Company → Sites → Create New Site and remember to select Outbound as the type.

Waste Streams

A Waste Stream is determined as Inbound or Outbound by the Facility selection.

  • Inbound Waste Streams are filled out by the Portal Company’s customer and submitted to an Inbound Facility for Portal Company review and processing.
  • Outbound Waste Streams are cloned from an IB by a Portal Company user (any of the Facility user types that have Waste Stream create permissions can do this). The TBD facility is removed, and a vendor Destination Facility is added.

Putting it All Together

StepDescription
1Create Inbound Waste Stream

Who: A Customer (Generator or Service Provider of an Inbound Company)

What: The customer creates and submits a Waste Stream to an IB Facility.

2Create Outbound Waste StreamWho: A Broker Site User (of the Portal Company)

What: Users will clone the inbound Waste Stream, then remove all IB companies (Facility, Generator, SP) and replace them with OB companies.

Users will certify as an Authorized agent to allow for an approval by the selected Destination Facility.

3Approve Inbound Waste StreamOnce the user at the Destination Facility has approved the outbound Waste Stream, the Broker Site User will approve the Inbound Waste Stream so that the Customer is aware their Waste Stream has been approved.
